The E-sampark centres in Chandigarh, an initiative for development, integration, and maintenance of different services from various departments under one roof. Here you can not only make online transactions through the web portal, but it is also a primary source of spreading information across the city.
Before the launch of this project, the common man has to visit several times the government offices for single work besides waiting in the long queues. The result was the whole day wasted.
These centres have bridged the gap between the government and consumers. It is a multi-faceted platform that promotes the digital India campaign and encourages proactive communication.
Through this, the Chandigarh Administration is directly able to make people aware of several programs, events, campaigns, and government initiatives happening around.

What is e-Sampark in Chandigarh?
This project came into existence on September 2004. Sampark, a Hindi word which means communication, and e stands for electronic, so it facilitates online communication with residents of UT regarding different services and programs of Government.
It is a “Single Window” that has brought together different services of all major departments under one roof and gave citizens the comfort to pay their bills, avail CTU bus passes, send competitive exams fee, etc. from here and get to know about different ongoing services of government.
It eradicated the need to waste time by standing in long queues and face harassment that often ended up in quarrels.
Through this, the government is easily able to connect with the citizens of the country by running mailer, sending SMS and outbound dialling. You might have received the public service and informational messages from time to time.
Besides facilitating communication, it also hosts a database that comprises of contacts of key officers like nodal officers, representatives, etc.
What is e-gram Sampark?
e-gram Sampark, alike e-Sampark, but it is for the rural area people. There are in total of 15 e-gram Sampark in different villages of the Chandigarh. These centres act more like Rural Knowledge Centres for the population living in villages using broadband connectivity.
The disadvantaged people will benefit from it, and they provide information free of cost as a part of Jan Sampark Services. It will help the rural citizens in filing RTI, paying taxes, registering grievances, etc.
The locations decided for e-gram centres in villages are vacant, unused buildings and they are set up after renovating them. All the facilities are provided here from freshwater to clean toilets.
Vision and Objectives of e-sampark centres in Chandigarh
The major purpose behind launching this project was to establish a well-knowledgeable society through proper usage of IT and promoting interaction between Government and the common man.
E-sampark centres in Chandigarh laid out the foundation for easy and speedy access to various government departments and their respective services.
Thus, promoting a better life quality. Separate line allotted for senior residents.
Primary objectives of setting this up are:
- A one-stop for availing or paying for any government service quickly
- Eradicated the need to visit the centres multiple times, hence less time wastage
- Better turnaround time and quick processing as well as issuing of services and receipts
- Facilitating open transparency in delivering services
The UT Administration has opened various e-Sampark centres in different sectors of Chandigarh. All the employees and officials of the centres are working consistently towards making people more aware of government services and policies that are for their welfare only.
Overall, the residents of The City Beautiful are happy with the arrival of e-gram and e-sampark centres as they can pay water bills or electricity bills in a jiff.
Categories of e-services
The urban and rural citizens of Chandigarh will be able to use 5 B2C and 23 G2C services.
The different services provided fall into three categories:
G2C – The services offered by the government to the customers. Like the facility of clean water, electricity, property, etc. Here at the E-sampark centres the customer can pay a water bill, electricity bill, and property tax.
G2B – The services provided by the government to the different businesses running in the area for proper interaction. Through the e-governance policies, various businesses can benefit.
B2C – The services offered by businesses to the consumers through its web portal and information technology.
